108 Moments
One practice a day, one moment at a time.
Notice a moment, move a bead.
One thing to watch for each morning. The necklace keeps count, so your phone stays in your pocket.
Two minutes each morning. Then it leaves you alone.
Coming soon to iPhone and Android.
Eighteen beads, two strands of nine. The count lives in your hand. $22, free US shipping.
Get the necklace →Most of the day goes by. You barely notice it.
Your life is not dull. Your attention just drifts. Whole mornings go by on autopilot. Most of it slips past unmarked.
Noticing changes that. One caught moment is small. A full necklace of them is a different kind of day.
One thing to look for. All day.
Two minutes when you wake up. You type in yesterday’s count and read today’s one line. Then the app leaves you alone, and you carry that one small thing into a normal day.
Three steps. Two of them take seconds.
- 01
Open it in the morning
It takes two minutes. Type in yesterday’s bead count. Read today’s one line.
- 02
Move a bead when it happens
Caught yourself doing it? Slide one bead. No phone. No tapping. Your hand keeps the count.
- 03
Fill the necklace
Two strands of nine beads. Eighteen in all. Eighteen is a full day.
108 practices. 108 moments in each one.
A moment is a pause of a few seconds. You notice something present — a sensation, an emotion, a thought, a person, a sound, something going right — and you let yourself register it. That is the whole move. No writing, nothing to score.
A practice is one small thing to catch. You only ever have one at a time. Eighteen moments finishes one pass. Then that practice steps back. It comes back later, pointed a little deeper. It comes back six times in all. A hundred and eight moments and it is yours.
- 1
Notice
Just catch it. Nothing else. There is no wrong answer.
- 2
Relate
Catch it. Then notice how you took it.
- 3
Turn Toward
Point it at the hard stuff on purpose.
- 4
Steady
Do it on bad days too. Tired days. Busy days.
- 5
Widen
Point it wider. Strangers. Crowds. People you avoid.
- 6
Radiate
Spot a chance to pass it on. Taking it is up to you.
The move never changes. Only where you point it. You might be on level five of one practice and level one of another. The app picks your order and keeps tuning it.
Eighteen is the goal. It is not a rule.
Eighteen beads fills the necklace. That is what we aim for. But catch one moment today and today counted. Tomorrow brings a new practice either way — the one you didn't finish comes back later and picks up right where you left off. You get through the 108 slower, and that is fine. Nothing expires. Nothing resets. At eighteen a day, your first pass through all 108 practices takes about 108 days. All six passes take a bit under two years.
Have one now.
It takes ten seconds. Press the button. Then look up from the screen. Take one slow breath. Notice one thing you had not noticed. A sound. A color. The weight of the necklace in your hand.
That was a moment. Move your first bead.
Your count has started.
What the research says. And what it doesn't.
People have studied practices like this for years. Noticing. Attention training. Gratitude. Studies link them to better mood, better focus and less stress. Linked is the honest word. The research is real. Nobody serious promises you a result on a schedule.
We want to help answer one question. If you notice more on purpose, do you feel better? The app asks how you are doing as you go. Then it shows you the line, flat parts and all. Your answers stay on your phone.
What it is not
Not a bead counter
The app never asks you to tap a bead. That is what the necklace is for.
Not a guilt machine
Miss a day and nothing turns red. Fill in yesterday and carry on.
Not a time commitment
Two minutes in the morning. The rest happens in the day you were already having.
Not mystical
Plain words all the way through. No big talk.
An old number. We kept it for a plain reason.
People have counted to 108 for a very long time. Many different traditions. We kept the number because the size is right. Big enough that finishing means something. Small enough that a normal person on a normal day can get there. It breaks up cleanly too. Nine beads to a strand. Eighteen to a necklace. Six eighteens to 108.
The ones people actually ask
How many beads are on the necklace?
Eighteen. Two strands of nine. That is one full day. The 108 in our name is how many moments finish a practice, not how many beads are on the string.
Do I need the necklace to use the app?
No. The app works on its own. There is a plus button, and you can type the day’s number straight in. The necklace just makes the count something you feel.
Is this a meditation app?
No. There is nothing to sit down for. You get one idea in the morning. You carry it into a normal day.
Is it religious?
No. Bead necklaces and the number 108 are very old. We kept both because they work. Everything we wrote is plain talk about attention and how you treat people.
How much time does it take?
Two minutes in the morning. After that, seconds at a time.
Do I have to get eighteen?
No. Eighteen is the goal, not a rule. Get one and the day counted. A practice might take you one day or several. You just move slower. That is a pace, not a failure.
What if I miss a day?
Then you missed a day. Fill in yesterday when you open the app. A fresh practice is waiting for today. Whatever you caught stays counted. Nothing scolds you.
Does it work without signal?
Yes. The practices live on your phone. A plane or a trail changes nothing.
One practice a day.
One moment at a time.
Coming soon to iPhone and Android.
